Easier Said Than Done

“I’m just sad, I don’t know why… I just know I am.” My friend shared her feelings and truthfully, I didn’t see them as so unusual. We all feel like that occasionally.

There’s a tendency to think we’re in this life all alone. Our feelings, foreign to everyone around, when really we all struggle with the same weaknesses. The trick is to capture our minds before thoughts get out of hand.

Easier said than done, doesn’t excuse us from trying. Many times we give up before we’ve attempted. I get tired of phrases like I’ve tried that before, it doesn’t work, or we’ve always done things this way. The Bible says; we are new creations in Christ, the old has passed away. Instead of focusing on why things won’t work, spend your energy on giving it another shot. We are not alone and we’re more capable than we realize.

I’m thankful that God is a God of second chances, a God of renewal. No matter how often it takes, I’m determined to press on. Singing, writing, calling a friend, reading scripture, and just praising the Lord no matter what… all help me reclaim my mind for good things.

What helps you?

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7
