Awake My Soul And Sing

What if all you had today was what you were thankful for yesterday? Would your world be chock-full or left wanting?

The New Year ushers in motivation unlike any other time. Renewed purpose and vision incite us to make change.  Inspired by this energy, the average resolve still wanes by the middle of March. Especially when it comes to dietary changes and exercise goals.

If you are one who can sustain change, good for you! But if you aren’t…take heart. There is nothing magical or mystical about January 1st. Every day is a new beginning and opportunity to make lasting change.

The most important change we can make is to recognize and

be thankful for what we already have.

“Awake My Soul And Sing.”

Sincere thankfulness cares properly for Mind, Body, and Spirit. If we conduct our day as an offering to God, good stewardship will be a natural outcome. We’ll be mindful to set time apart for prayer, meditation and worship as a “first fruit.” We’ll be practical about exercise and nutrition–not overly absorbed or neglectful of our physical condition. Balance keeps our mind perfectly focused on God.

* You will keep in perfect peace, him whose mind is stayed on You…

* Do not conform to the patterns of this world, but

be transformed by the renewing of your minds.

It’s a sacrifice to do what you should, rather than what you want. This daily offering keeps you aware that God is Emmanuel — all knowing, all seeing and all present.

  1. It’s an encouragement to realize that each morning is a new day. We don’t have to wait for a new year to start over. It’s a reminder that god’s grace is new every morning. I sure need his grace.

  2. Jewell,, thank you for the reminder that each new day is an opportunity to start again.. How we need the opportunity to do just that; and how grateful we are to God for such grace!
These are Challenging thoughts too in your opening line which we would do well to heed! I find that Keeping a daily gratitude journal is one way of helping me stay thankful. Blessings 🙂
